About This Place

Nestled on the lively stretch of E Franklin Ave in Minneapolis, Code Blu Coffee is much more than your average coffee shop—it's a sanctuary for coffee enthusiasts and casual sippers alike. Specializing as both a coffee shop and a meticulous coffee roaster, Code Blu elevates your daily caffeine ritual with exceptional craftsmanship and a genuine passion for quality.

Step inside this cozy yet vibrant space, and you'll immediately notice the friendly, approachable vibe amplified by attentive staff who truly care about your experience. Despite its modest size, Code Blu makes brilliant use of its space, offering ample spots to plug in your laptop and settle in—whether you're there for a quick pick-me-up or an extended study session. Customers like Richard Dongses appreciate this thoughtful layout, noting the "low key chill vibe" and the prime seating facing the street, perfect for people-watching as you sip your brew.

At the heart of Code Blu’s appeal is its artisanal coffee menu, handcrafted to satisfy a wide range of tastes. From a rich, strong brewed coffee to their signature espresso drinks, each cup is brimming with flavor and made with freshly roasted beans sourced and roasted onsite up to 12 times a week, ensuring fresh, vibrant coffee that far surpasses grocery store options—just ask loyal customer Nicholas E, who swears by their breakfast blend for its unmatched quality and flavor.

Whether you crave a smooth Vanilla Latte or a bold Black Eye Coffee with a triple shot kick, Code Blu has you covered. Their creative mocha variations—including the indulgent Turtle Caramel Mocha, the seductive contrast of the Zebra White & Dark Mocha, and the uniquely nutty Mac White Mocha—offer taste adventures that go beyond the ordinary. And the fact that a whipped mocha topping is free adds a whimsical touch to your craft coffee experience.

If you’re not in the mood for espresso drinks, their range of alternative hot beverages like hot cocoa (available in white or dark), chai steamer, and a variety of hot teas provide comforting options for every palate. Children are also welcome, with affordable, kid-friendly cold drinks such as chocolate milk and plain milk ensuring that the whole family feels at home.

Complement your beverage with sweet, freshly baked treats like their buttery Almond Poppyseed Muffin, a flaky golden Croissant, or a melt-in-your-mouth Cinnamon Roll. These delightful pastries create a perfect harmony with the coffee’s bold flavors, adding warmth and indulgence to your visit.

Was at the tattoo place across the street and wanted coffee afterwards. This place is a cool place. The staff was really nice and the coffee tasted great.

Good strong coffee and friendly service. Despite it being a small place (kind of tight quarters), they try to make best use of the space and provide ample places to plug in your laptop if you plan to spend time there. Always a plus. The ambiance has a low key chill vibe, for sure. The seating faces the street, which is nice to see the people walking down the street and cars zipping by.

I only buy coffee beans here. We love their breakfast blend. They typically roast 1-2 times a week. The beans are the same price or less than buying at the grocery store for a far better flavor, quality, and service. Thanks!

coffee is roasted in house and just about as good as it gets. super cute teeny tiny establishment, so not great for groups, but you could definitely get some work done here if you can find a table. perfect for takeout, and the coffee can’t be beat.

Decided to try this place after reading the reviews. It did not disappoint! Coffee was amazing! Nice place to sit and work for a bit. Bought some beans to take home. Great prices. The beans are amazing! They are comparable to the ones I’ve brought back from Mexico, Honduras and Cambodia. Nice dark roast without tasting burnt. Nice and smooth. Now I have to see if they ship, since I was just visiting
